The Tenaya Lake Trail starts from Tenaya Canyon, about 3 miles north of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, just before the confluence of Snow Creek with Tenaya Creek. Take the Mirror Lake trail and continue about 1 mile past Mirror Lake. The trail climbs steeply up to the northwest, with excellent views back over Tenaya Creek and across to Half Dome. Just over the top of the main climb, the trail divides, the left fork going out to the Tuolumne Meadows road near Porcupine Flat, and the right fork passing behind Mount Watkins and dropping down to the raod near Olmsted Point before continuing down the creek to Tenaya lake.
